Engineering Mission & Principles

TerraSpatial was founded to resolve a critical operational challenge in modern spatial data science: the fragmentation of authoritative geodetic, remote sensing, and renewable energy calculation tools. Practitioners frequently switch between unverified web converters, proprietary GIS desktop applications, and fragmented Python scripts to execute fundamental day-to-day calculations.

Our platform bridges this gap by unifying three core geospatial disciplines into an integrated, 100% static client-side web application deployed on high-performance edge infrastructure:

Scientific Foundations & Reference Literature

All mathematical formulations, band combinations, and empirical thresholds implemented across TerraSpatial are derived directly from published peer-reviewed geomatics and remote sensing literature:

Sealed Urban Index (SUI) Formulation

The Sealed Urban Index formula implemented in our Spectral Index Calculator addresses the long-standing challenge of separating dry bare agricultural soil from artificial impervious surfaces (soil sealing) across multi-temporal satellite imagery.

SUI = ((Green - SWIR1) * (SWIR2 - Red)) / ((Green + SWIR1) * (SWIR2 + Red)) + 0.5

Photovoltaic Yield Modeling & Grid Integration

Our rooftop capacity models, orientation transpositions, and performance ratio derating algorithms follow the international IEC 61724 standard for photovoltaic system performance and empirical validation methodologies established by the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC PVGIS) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

Geodetic Projections & Transverse Mercator Math

Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate transformations, meridian arc series, and conformal mapping equations follow the rigorous Krüger series expansions and Karney algorithms incorporated within the EPSG Geodetic Parameter Registry and open-source Proj library.

Commitment to Client-Side Privacy & Zero Telemetry

In geospatial engineering, data confidentiality is paramount. Field surveyors, defense contractors, environmental researchers, and private energy developers work with proprietary coordinates, high-resolution cadastral boundaries, and critical infrastructure locations.

TerraSpatial enforces an absolute zero-telemetry architecture. All mathematical operations execute exclusively within your browser's local sandbox memory. No user inputs, coordinate pairs, polygon vertices, or calculation outputs are logged, tracked, transmitted, or stored on external servers.
