Terms of Engineering Use
Operational guidelines, calculation verification requirements, and professional liability parameters for users of the TerraSpatial platform.
1. Purpose and Scope of Service
TerraSpatial provides open-access client-side calculation engines, geodetic transformation utilities, spectral band math matrices, and spatial solar energy estimators. These tools are engineered to assist geospatial professionals, remote sensing researchers, civil engineering surveyors, and renewable energy analysts in preliminary design, feasibility studies, educational research, and field workflow automation.
2. Engineering Verification Requirement
While all algorithms implemented on TerraSpatial adhere to rigorous published scientific standards (including EPSG geodetic definitions, OGC specifications, and IEC photovoltaic standards), results produced by client-side calculators must be independently verified by a licensed professional surveyor or certified professional engineer prior to:
- Executing legal boundary determinations, property boundary monumentation, or municipal cadastral filings.
- Submitting civil structural load designs or commercial construction permits.
- Finalizing commercial grid interconnection agreements with utility distribution system operators.
- Authoring flight plans for commercial uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operating in regulated airspace.
The user assumes full operational responsibility for validating coordinate reference frame definitions, local datum shift parameters, and sensor physical dimensions against official manufacturer calibration certificates and national geodetic survey monuments.
3. Intellectual Property and Open Access
The underlying mathematical equations, standard geodetic formulas, and scientific band combinations featured on TerraSpatial belong to the public domain or are derived from published academic literature. The original website design, custom JavaScript client engines, and technical documentation are provided free of charge for personal, commercial, and educational use under standard open-access principles.
Users are prohibited from reverse-engineering the platform for malicious purposes, launching automated denial-of-service attacks against delivery infrastructure, or scraping site assets in violation of fair use.
4. Limitation of Liability
TerraSpatial is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular geomatic or engineering purpose, or non-infringement.
Under no circumstances shall the authors, maintainers, or hosting contributors of TerraSpatial be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages (including financial losses resulting from construction delays, incorrect solar yield financing models, crop monitoring errors, or coordinate misalignments) arising from the use or inability to use this platform.
5. Modifications and Platform Updates
We reserve the right to refine mathematical formulations, update sensor calibration benchmarks, expand geodetic datum catalogues, and modify these Terms of Engineering Use at any time to reflect advancing scientific consensus. Continued utilization of the platform constitutes acceptance of all updated operational terms.
